Isabel T. Rubio is the Director of the Breast Surgical Unit at Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Previously she was the Chief of Breast Surgical Oncology at the Hospital Universitario Vall d ́Hebron, and Associate Professor at the Universitat Autònoma, Barcelona. Dr. Rubio trained as a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellow at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock and at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Rubio is member of the Outreach Committee of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), member of the Board of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), EUSOMA and founding member and past President of the Spanish Association of Breast Surgeons (AECIMA). She is a member of the Editorial Board, Breast Section of the Journal of Surgical Oncology, The Breast, the European Journal of Surgical Oncology and the World Journal of Clinical Oncology. She is an officer at the UEMS Breast Surgery Division and participates as an examiner in the EBSQ Examinations in Breast Surgery. Dr. Rubio has participated as part of the Steering and Executive Committees in several international, multicentre randomized trials. Dr. Rubio has published several national and international peer review manuscripts and book chapters. Her interest is in sentinel lymph node biopsy, neoadjuvant treatments, ultrasound guided surgery and surgical management of BRCA mutation carriers.
