Giacomo Montagna

Giacomo Montagna is a Swiss board certified gynecologist. He completed my medical education at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and obtained his doctoral thesis at the University of Zurich. His main clinical and research interest is breast cancer treatment.
Giacomo Montagna’s particular interest is the de-escalation of axillary surgery and the clinical management and epidemiology of breast cancer in young women.

In 2018,heI completed a certificate in advanced studies in breast cancer competences (CCB) organized by the European School of Oncology (ESO) and the University of Ulm, Germany.  To deepen his knowledge in biostatistics and epidemiology, he is currently doing a Master in Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University. He is an active member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology Young Surgeon and Alumni Club (EYSAC) and is particularly interested in promoting high quality education in breast surgical oncology.

After obtaining his board certification in gynecology at the University Hospital of Basel, Switzerland, he worked in the Breast Surgery division of the same hospital under the supervision of Prof. Walter Weber. In July 2019 he joined the Breast surgery division at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York, where he is currently doing a research fellowship under the supervision of Prof. Monica Morrow. He applied and matched for the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) Breast Oncology Fellowship, which he will start in August 2020 at MSKCC.
