Dr. Francesco Meani, MD, is a gynecologist and a breast cancer specialist. Since 2016, he is head of the “Centro di Senologiadella Svizzera Italiana" (CSSI). The CSSI is a EUSOMA and Swiss Cancer League certified Breast Unit, and the leading Breast Unit in Southern Switzerland with more than 250 new BC patients treated in 2018. Dr Meani performs over 100 operations/year, he’s in charge for the “high risk patients” prevention program and he’s particularly involved in the surgical planning and treatment of young women with breast cancer. Dr Meani through the years has built a well-rounded curriculum with a constant interest in breast cancer management, working in both fields of clinics and breast cancer research with a specific focus on oncoplastic surgery, both in Switzerland and abroad.

Dr Meani has spent more than 2 years as a fellow at the Center of Molecular Medicine, George Mason University, VA, USA working in the field of proteomics of breast and ovarian cancer. Besides his medical and specialization degrees, he holds a Master of Science in Breast Surgery, issued by the University of Milan, Italy, the American ECFMG certification, the Diploma of Senology from the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the Certificate of Competence in Breast Cancer from ULM University Germany and the FMH Swiss specialization in Operative Gynecology and Obstetrics. He is a ESO (European School of Oncology) faculty member in the field of Breast Cancer surgery and he has been appointed for holding academic lectures for residents and health care professionals involved in the care of breast cancer patients.
